Why This Part Matters
The transfer case—also referred to as a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) in some GM literature—delivers torque from the transmission to the rear driveline when AWD engages. Wear or failure can cause grinding, binding in tight turns, fluid leaks, vibration, service AWD warnings, or loss of rear assist in bad weather. A tested used OEM unit restores function at a fraction of new dealer cost.

If prior unit failed with metal, flush/inspect rear driveshaft, diff input, and sensors.
